Rent-to-Own was founded in 2009 to facilitate access to productive assets – such as irrigation pumps and ox carts – for Southern Africa’s growth-oriented entrepreneurs.

In Zambia especially, innovative business owners lack access to affordable, available and appropriate equipment for key business functions, such as farming or manufacturing.  Without productive assets these entrepreneurs are not able to realize their business potential.

Rent-to-Own directly responds to this challenge through a holistic approach: we provide guidance in asset selection, low-cost distribution, tailored financing and training services so each entrepreneur can employ their asset over the long-term.

Using Agents entrenched in each community we work diligently to understand each client’s asset requirement, business plans and repayment capacity. Because of this, Rent-to-Own is uniquely reducing credit risk while still maximizing possible financial returns for clients and investors.

Rent-to-Own is unlike any other asset financing company currently operational in Africa.

After just 12 months of full-time operations, Rent-to-Own has over 250 clients and has successfully financed US $ 200,000 worth of equipment. The company has recently partnered with several key investors and is now positioned for widespread growth in 2011.
